Mechanism of action
Citicoline (CDP–Choline) is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of phosphatidylcholine, a key component of neuronal cell membranes. It enhances neuronal membrane repair, increases choline levels, improves neurotransmitter synthesis (acetylcholine), and exerts neuroprotective effects, thereby supporting neurological recovery and cognitive function.
